Schemer | Google launches new social networking platform to post your scheems

Bookmark and Share

In the past weeks, it seems Google is on a roll... After just recently launching Google Plus, and discontinuing Google Buzz platform because of a failed attempt of getting in the social media market, Google is also announcing the launch of Schemer. Google Schemer is a platform where you can find "stuff to do" in your area or in general.

Currently the social networking platform is in beta testing and at the moment can only be accessed under invitation system only.

The platform is "kind of" integrated with Google Plus. You can recommend "stuff to do" to your friends in your circles in Google Plus, and other people on Scheme can view your schemes if you have made them public. You can post for instance "How to lose weight in a week" and write a comment on how to accomplish this. Then people that can see the scheme could select if they are interested in doing this, or have already done it.

Some magazines and TV channels or websites are already on the platform like Entertainment Weekly, National Geographic, Bravo and more...

Many people have said though, that there are too many social networks coming up, and frankly they aren’t really interested in signing up on each and every one of them. Many say that Facebook is enough...

Although, like I said earlier Google seems to be on a roll right now, and some people are speculating that it’s because the company’s new CEO and founder, Lary Page. Recently there have been many changes at Google, like the new drop down Google menu, termination of Buzz and Google Labs, launching of the new social network Google Plus, and now Schemer.

Many people have commented on Google Plus about the new Schemer platform:
"It should be a part of G+ - not the other way around"

"Jury’s still out for me... no mobile app, limited local coverage...and not integrated enough."

"I tried it and I don’t get it. What’s the point of this thing?

If it was integrated with Google+ then perhaps there would be some kind of relevance, but as it stands, I don’t see this thing lasting long."

Than again, let’s not forget that it’s still in Beta testing. Who knows what Google has planned for it. And than again, who knows what direction the company is going towards with so many new changes... It seems to me, that Google is on steroids recently...
